Updates on The WhipIts

I've taken some time here lately to give my WhipIts a bit more love. For too long, this half-inherited band of misfits has languished in a boring tacklebox next to a pack of Wobbies, waiting for table play (or even some decent photos.)
I previously wrote about my box of WhipIts (Ace and Jackie Darwin led, depending on the era) about a year ago, so I figured that it was time to give them a proper featuring using a better camera. It's a great opportunity to showcase the new additions to the force as well.

The two on the left are units I picked up on Ebay and did minimal touchups on, while the Thunderhead Studios Shadowhawk in the middle is one I 3d printed and painted with a simple blue / black scheme. The Centurion and the Trebuchet are also Ebay finds that I gave simple touch-ups too. The Magistracy Cataphract on the far right was one I printed and painted just last week.

A lot of my WhipIts are misfits. I had no real idea what to do with the two merc Griffins, but I think they look good in pink. The K2 Catapult at the end is an homage to my Battletech buddy who passed away in 2018. The Mad Cat is painted up with spitfire style jaws as a refence to the merc captain who headcapped one, then fixed it up and rode it into battle. I can't remember the name of the captain or much else about the story, but there you go.

Of course, you gotta have a pink hetzer too.

Most of these heavies are ebay finds I touched up. Each is charming in their own way. I just love the classic sculpts. The big Battlemaster with the axe was one I printed about a year ago, then finally painted yesterday to round out my box. I feel like it really showcases how far I've come in my painting skill since I started this journey in earnest.

Of course, the box itself has to be pink as well, right?
